House agriculture committee members announced

House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas and Ranking Member Collin Peterson recently announced their appointments to the committee for the duration of the 113th Congress.

Ranking Member Peterson's announcement included 19 of the 21 Democratic seats on the committee, 11 of which are new appointments.  All new appointments to the committee are also freshman members of the 113th Congress. The new members include:  Ann Kuster (NH-2), Cheri Bustos (IL-17), Filemon Vela (TX-34), Gloria Negrete McLeod (CA-35), Juan Vargas (CA-51), Michelle Lujan Grisham (NM-1), Pete Gallego (TX-23), Rick Nolan (MN-8), Sean Patrick Maloney (NY-18), Suzan DelBene (WA-1), and William Enyart (IL-12).

Chairman Lucas' announcement included only eight new appointments, five of which are freshmen. These appointments include Reps. Dan Benishek (MI-1), Jeff Denham (CA-10), and Rep. Mike Rogers (AL-3), along with incoming freshman Chris Collins (NY-27), Rodney Davis (IL-13), Richard Hudson (NC-8), Doug LaMalfa (CA-1), and Ted Yoho (FL-3). 

Chairman Lucas also recently announced the creation of two new subcommittees including the Livestock, Rural Development and Credit Subcommittee along with the Horticulture, Research, Biotechnology and Foreign Agriculture Subcommittee. These committees will be headed up by Reps. Rick Crawford and Austin Scott respectively. For more details on subcommittee leadership, click here.

Task Groups Complete Initial Work NAEDA board to consider recommendations for enhancing member service

For the past several months, eight task groups have been working behind the scenes to address the priorities or focus areas for transitioning NAEDA to a new governance model. Later this month, the task groups will present their findings and recommendations to the NAEDA Board of Directors for consideration. The meeting promises to be an exciting opportunity to plot the course for significant change within the association - change that will enhance service to the members and better position NAEDA for continued success.
