Congress has just returned from their Easter recess break to take up the matters of the country. There are a couple of items we thought you should be aware of that will be taking place over the next few weeks and months.
As I begin my term as chairman of the North America Equipment Dealers Association, the question that comes to my mind is, “What do our dealer-members really need from us?” After all, our motto and driving purpose is, “Helping Dealers Succeed.”
Did we miss something as we watched Congress in its last few days of the 112th Congress pass legislation to solve the so-called fiscal cliff? I don’t think so. What we saw was the administration via the vice president and Congress just kick the can—or should I say cans—down the road some more.
More than five years ago, I received a call from Mike Caraway, Executive Vice President of SouthEastern Equipment Dealers Association, inquiring if I would be interested in serving on the NAE DA board as the representative from our association. I said yes. And more than three years ago, I received a call asking if I wanted to move through the officer chairs of NAE DA, which would ultimately result in me serving as the chairman of the board. Once again, I said yes.
