All eyes are on the White House as President Obama gets set to roll out a climate change plan. His top energy and climate adviser, Heather Zichal, said it's coming in weeks.
Zichal said the plan, which will rely on actions that don’t require the consent of Congress, will focus on power plant emissions, expanding renewable energy on public lands and bolstering energy efficiency. The plan will likely include finalizing emissions rules for new coal-fired power plants. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) missed an April deadline for doing so. The big question is whether Obama will propose standards for existing power plants — a move that green and public health groups would surely applaud, but one to which industry would object.
