Today, the Oklahoma legislature is hosting their organizational day. Bills for the upcoming session are already being introduced. One of those early bills filed is SB 377 relating to the Oklahoma Fair Practices for Manufacturers, Distributors, Wholesalers, and Dealers Act.
SB 377 is sponsored by Senator Avery Frix (R) who worked with the association on language for the bill. The bill updates language regarding manufacturer interference in changes to executive management and ownership of a dealership. It also updates language pertaining to dealer’s ability to sell competing product lines. The NAEDA position statement explaining these changes can be found here.
The Oklahoma legislative session does not formally begin until February 3rd. NAEDA will work with all stakeholders to move this legislation forward on behalf of dealers. If you have any questions or concerns about the legislation, please reach out to me directly.
