Thank you to all the Arkansas dealers who appeared to testify against HB 1852. The Senate Agriculture Committee chairman said he wanted to see local dealers show up to testify, and I believe he got more than he counted on. Ultimately, that is what made the difference in defeating this legislation.
With nobody showing up to support the bill, the lone vote in committee to pass the bill came from the bill sponsor, Senator Matt Stone (R), and the bill is now dead for this session. However, as we’ve seen in the past, these bills tend to recur in future sessions and there will need to be groundwork done to educate legislators and prevent it from gaining traction when the legislature comes back in two years.
For now, we have ensured Arkansas joins 25 other states this year that have rejected Right to Repair legislation. Thank you again for everyone’s engagement and support on very short notice. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to me directly.
