The State Senate is scheduled to hear Senate Bill (SB) 3 tomorrow, 11 March 2025. This bill has been in the works for several years as the Senate seeks to reform the state’s consumer protection laws and would create “Right to Repair” mandates within the state. Anyone who followed our alerts last year will remember it. At the end of last year, the General Law Committee Co-Chair, Senator James Maroney, promised to amend this bill with our proposed industry exemption language, which NAEDA and several industry partners provided.
Sen. Maroney was true to his word, and our industry exemption has been included in the Committee Draft this year. We are deeply grateful for the Senator’s time, consideration of our concerns, and support for the industry by including this exemption in the proposed bill.
NAEDA will continue to watch this bill as it progresses through the legislative process, and we will update you with any changes in our position on this bill should one happen. If you have any questions or concerns about this legislation, please contact NAEDA’s Director of Government Affairs, Kipp McGuire, at kmcguire@naeda.com or by phone at (771) 208-4009.
