We are very pleased to announce Governor Stitt has signed Senate Bill 377 into law. The signed legislation will become effective November 1, 2025. You can read our letter of support sent to Governor Stitt below.
This legislation is a significant update to the protections dealers have in the state of Oklahoma to ensure equipment dealers can make decisions that are in the best interest of their customers, employees, and their business. These changes include:
- Updated Definition of Good Cause: Clarifies that a change in the executive management of the dealership, or a sale and transfer of the business or equity ownership is not good cause for termination unless the manufacturer can demonstrate it would be detrimental to the representation of the manufacturer’s products.
- Updated Competing Lines Provision: Prohibits a manufacturer from preventing dealers from carrying competing product lines, investing in a dealership with competing product lines, and being required to have separate facilities for competing lines so long as the dealership meets the statutory thresholds.
We would like to thank our primary sponsors of this legislation, Senator Avery Frix and Representative Steve Bashore, for ushering this bill through the legislative process on behalf of dealers. Please consider supporting those legislators for their efforts to strengthen dealer statutes in Oklahoma. Finally, we would like to thank dealers for their engagement throughout the legislative process to secure passage of this priority legislation. Letter to Governor.
