NAEDA Submits Tariff Letter to Administration on Behalf of Dealer Industry

Following this week’s announcement on Section 232 tariffs, NAEDA submitted a letter to administration officials including the U.S. Trade Representative, Secretary of Commerce, Secretary of the Treasury, and the Secretary of Agriculture. The letter outlines our request for tariff treatment of farm equipment under the new tariff regime. Namely that we receive the same treatment as automobiles, which are proposed to be capped overall at a 15% tariff from the EU. We requested the same treatment for farm equipment from other countries where bi-lateral agreements have been reached.

NAEDA will continue our outreach on this issue with the administration and Congress to push for more reasonable policies that reflect the supply chain and market realities dealers and their customers face. We have spoken with many of you this past week about the impacts these tariffs will have, and we appreciate the feedback and are working diligently to represent your concerns.

We will be coming out with more information next week on how dealers can engage with their elected officials and provide updates on how the tariffs will be applied and calculated as they become available. Please continue to contact us with your questions, concerns, and information as we work through this together.

Please see the letter submitted to the administration from our CEO, Brett Davis, below.
