Many of you have already seen the articles about a Right to Repair law relating to agriculture equipment being introduced in Wisconsin. NAEDA has received a few contacts from dealers relating to this and we want to provide an update to all dealers.
Senator Brad Pfaff (D-Onalaska) and Representative Jenna Jacobson (D-Oregon) released a statement two weeks ago announcing their introduction of a Right to Repair bill specific to farm equipment. That press release generated several news articles on the topic. However, the bill has not been officially introduced. We contacted Senator Pfaff’s office about the bill and were told they are currently circulating the bill for additional co-sponsors the next couple of weeks and will be formally introducing the bill sometime in late March. They would not share the bill language with us.
Once the bill is formally introduced, NAEDA will provide an update with analysis of the actual bill language. NAEDA has a strong track record of successfully opposing this type of legislation and we will continue that in Wisconsin. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly.
