House Bill 698, otherwise known as the agricultural equipment Right to Repair bill, has been scheduled for a hearing in the House Committee on Rural Community Development. The hearing will be held April 24th at 12 p.m. in House hearing room 1.

HB 698 is the same bill sponsored by Rep. Barry Hovis (R) that we have fought against for the past several sessions. The bill contains the same provisions fixing the price of parts at dealer net cost, allowing unfettered access to security locks and security related functions, and requires manufacturers to standardize diagnostic tools instead of making available proprietary tools.

The Missouri legislature is well past the halfway point at which most legislation that hasn’t already moved out of committee stands very little chance of passing. However, the bill sponsor is very determined and has already had this bill re-referred to this committee in order to obtain a hearing.

NAEDA will be testifying in-person against the bill. If you wish to testify against the bill, please contact Kipp McGuire at kmcguire@naeda.com.
