Senate Bill 306, Equipment Right to Repair Act, has been scheduled for a hearing with the Senate Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee tomorrow morning – 24 January 2024 – at 10:00 am EST.

We recently sent out a legislative alert covering this and a similar House Bill introduced in West Virginia. S.B. 306 contains price-fixing language that mandates the sale of parts “at costs that are fair to both parties,” tools to be sold at net cost, and requires unfettered access to security locks and security-related functions of the equipment.

NAEDA has submitted written testimony in opposition and is scheduled to provide comments virtually during the hearing. We ask that any dealers willing and able to provide testimony please do so. Given the short notice, in-person testimony may be difficult, but any written or virtual testimony would be beneficial.

If you would like to provide testimony, please contact the Committee Clerk, Trina Strain, at trina.strain@wvsenate.gov or (304) 357-7889.

If you have any questions or want to discuss this further, please contact NAEDA’s Director of Government Affairs, Kipp McGuire at kmcguire@naeda.com.
